It's generally around €3 any time I've seen it on sale here.

Yep! the Guinness Special was imported back from Belgium, and yeah it is bloody expensive but you know how these things work, shipping charges both directions also gone through the hands of a few wholesalers, all taking their cut. Not to mention the duty that has to be paid on an 8% beer in this wonderful country of ours.

It's never going to sit competitively in the market with any domestic product so, only for those with a keen interest and curiosity to try it, and I don't expect to be a big seller.

The price is correct though, the price to me is approx €3 so must have been ,mis-priced elsewhere or on clearance.

I bow to the beernut's superior knowledge on the matter (I was quoting Wikipedia) and shall alter accordingly.

It was the standard price for years. I assume some middleman jacked up the price afterwards, which is why it has been so rare here for so long, and is now so expensive. I don't know how much Redmond's have been charging for it lately. Sorry -- I wasn't accusing you of gouging or anything.

I'd definitely encourage people to try it. But if you like it, it's hard to justify paying the extra above what FES costs.

Any chance of some Yougs Double Chocolate Stout being stocked.

Had a few bottles of it in the porterhouse the other night and it really is something else, if anywhere was going to have it I thought it would be the Drink Store.

They have it, have you actually been in Splinter or just looking on the website?

They have far more beers than what you see online and I am pretty sure Youngs was in the fridge last time I was there.

If not, dont forget you can get it at off license price from the Bull and Castle just up from Porterhouse Central at Christchurch (on the off chance you do not know where it is) or you can get it at any good off license that stocks craft beer. It is a common beer to find to be honest.
