P**sed off in cork 18 years 4 months ago #1

Was just listening to 96fm in cork where neil prendeville was talking to some people about beer brewing, Needless to say i am not happy with the way in which the matter was treated, all he wanted was how cheap, how fast, and how drunk. i tried to ring in order to state the point that brewing is a hobby and should not be touted as cheap for the sake of being cheap, but was basically told that my views conflicted with the interest of the show! im sorry but i thought topical shows were about controversy and conflicting points of view, especially prendivilles'.

I just wanted to know why you thought prendiville loves conflicting points of view. <!-- s:?: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_question.gif" alt=":?:" title="Question" /><!-- s:?: --> the lad is a well know sensationalist thick muppet <!-- s:x --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_mad.gif" alt=":x" title="Mad" /><!-- s:x -->

The 96fm, who I will not name is the biggest bxxxx of all time. He thinks drinking a pint of stout in Douglas is the only place to drink. He is always saying that home brewing is cheap. When you can get a mainstream lager for about 50cent a bottle no contest.Home brewing is more expensive when you factor in the cost of the hard ware.

I don't know what was said today on his show as I don't listen to him anymore as it only serves to keep him on the air. I think the home/craft brewing community needs to steel it's self & not get worked up everytime a muppet like penderpiss shoots their mouth off. we should be well used of ignorance by now

unfortunately i have to listen to the show as my boss loves it, i have found that even though he doesnt like people conflicting with his point of view that the show does allow for debate between callers, i just wanted to dispute the idea that was being put out that all it takes to make a good brew is to throw a kit and a kilo of sugar into a bucket with warm water and leave it for 15 days, im relatively new to brewing and if i hadn't read a bit about it first before just following kit instructions i can say that i probably would have given up.
