Only last week in Derry (scoping out the Bushmills casks) Wetherspoons had a range of beers on sale - some were indeed £1-90 a pint ( and spot on as well )

I doubt you would have got that in Dublin. By the summer of 1996 the Dublin pub I worked in charged £2.10 for Guinness and £2.35 for lager.

And a week before the euro changeover, I got 20p back from a fiver for two pints in Ryan's Beggars Bush. Though they were (and still are) unusually cheap...
