Guinness' Dirty Laundry... 13 years 1 month ago #7

I thought it was a well known fact that Guinness profited by taking the dirty wash water and using it to darken their product <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->
A secret ingredient sort of thing. Enhanced by the tears of enslaved Irish women.

Guinness' Dirty Laundry... 13 years 4 weeks ago #8

Just heard back from the archivist:
[quote:3mu9hzmr]I have undertaken a search in the Archive to establish what, if any, information we hold in the Archive regarding laundry services used by Guinness. In the material catalogued to date, there is evidence of the Guinness Company using external laundry services, but, the Magdelene laundries are not specifically cited as a service provider in our records.[/quote:3mu9hzmr]

Not conclusive, but it looks like the petition's claim remains to be proven.
