I was in Bruges just before Christmas, it was fantastic. Really cool spot.

The best thing about Antwerp is the Train Station. That's not sarcasm, it's one of the most impressive buildings I've ever been in. 5 levels of platforms in a renovated Gothic building!!!

Don't stay in Brugge with all the tourists. You can get a train every 20 mins or so from Ghent and they run late enough to get a good session in.

The thing I found about Bruges (and I have stayed there 3 times over the past few years) is that most of the tourists are day trippers to the city and seem to clear off by 5 or 6 in the evening. It's a brilliant place to wander around and drink brilliant beer. Some great restaurants too.
And another thing, I was in Ghent on one occasion and found myself in a fairly dodgy neighbourhood. The only reason I went in the first place was to go to Café Hopduvel but it was closed.
