Pale ale v marris otter? 13 years 8 months ago #1

Can anyone tell me what the difference is? Is mo more general purpose ?

I presume you mean pale malt.

Maris Otter is a variety of barley, the malt from which is highly regarded.

Pale malt can be made from MO, or any other variety of barley.

Some put a higher regard on mo. I don't. A pale ale blend is good enough for most brewers that make fantastic beer...plus it is slightly cheaper. I've tried both many times and I can't say there has been much difference to my brews imho.

Have used both and didn't notice any difference except the cost price.
