Craft brews in Vegas and Houston 13 years 10 months ago #1

I'll be going stateside for a week in August and was wondering if anyone had any suggestiosn for nice places to get a brew in Sin City or Houston (Texas). Any chat about things to do will also be appreciated <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

I was last in vegas 2 years ago, there is a specialist beer bar near the university that boasts hundreds of bottled beers but I never made it out there, no buy in from the people I was with.

They have Sierra Nevada on tap in alot of bars over there and there is a Sin City brewing company as well but I didn't try any of their wares.

On a non beer side to vegas, you can really do anything, I'd say get a show in, I didn't think I'd enjoy it but it was pretty good! The shark tank has no great white (I was disappointed, Vegas not having the biggest was a let down)

The gambling is great fun, I spend 4-5 hours every night playing blackjack and drinking for free, lost $60 overall so I gained on the banter and free drinks.

I'd love to be heading back over there, great for winding down, best of luck finding some local brews and I'll take advantage of your research next time I go!

I suppose the other question I should ask is 'what beer do your recommend I purchase in a good off-license'?

Nevada gets a lot of top West Coast breweries that don't distribute nation-wide. Look for beers from Firestone Walker, Deschutes, The Bruery, and Uinta from Utah as well as bigger names like Stone.
