I just found [i:1fad2cit]Guinness: The 250 Year Quest for the Perfect Pint[/i:1fad2cit][/url:1fad2cit] on Amazon. The publisher's blurb ("From the Inside Flap") is tooth-grindingly awful, so it's good to see the single user review further down giving a much more plausible appraisal.

The single user review seem to be more believable

The official blurb on the book is kind of funny really. It becomes unfunny when you begin to realise how many people worldwide swallow this stuff (and swallow Guinness as well. Okay, I do on occasions but I couldn't resist the comment.

In my opinion, the For foreign axtra is up there with the best stouts i have tasted, everyones very quick to lay in to Guinness, but the fact is, if you can get a good pint (my local being a good example) then Guinness can be enjoyable, I'm not in to the politics or issues surrounding the brewery, there is a hell of alot worse out there, and I think we all know that. If I had not started drinking Guinness, then I wouldnt have broadened my horizons and there's a good chance i would be drinking budweiser right now
