its a solid idea unless you are hungry but i would add look for the person that seems to be in charge. if you get some young barman the messege may not pass up the line to the person who calls the shots

I always ask when I go into the pubs here in celbridge,just to annoy them because I know they only stock macro beer. He is PROBABLY the best barman in the world and PROBABLY correct about the headache.

I did pretty much this at the weekend but got a Ballygowan (or similar) instead and paid EUR2.70 for it.
