There's another one. When Arthur Guinness was brewing in Leixlip even tho the brewery was built on the bank of the Liffey the water was coming from springs that are now under footpaths on Main St.

But I bet someone somewhere can claim to be using water from outside their door. If someone set up in Leixlip now they'd be using LIffey water as the plant is in the town.

Most water in the Dublin City Council area comes either from the Vartry Reservoir in Wicklow or Ballymore Eustace in Kildare. Ballymore Eustace is Liffey water, so I'd imagine that some of it has ended up in Guinness. Pretty sure that the city centre is mostly fed from Vartry but Dublin City Council never guaranteed one supply.

Leixlip only supplies Fingal (and parts of Kildare) as far as I know.

Edit: I'd imagine that when the Vartry scheme was completed in the mid-1800s that Guinness would have switched all their water supply to that. It would have been the best quality water available in the city.

Looks like it's a blend of Varty & Ballymore Eustace at that end of town.

Thing about BE water is that the limestone only starts at Clane so it won't be very hard.

Don't guinness have their own water supply, completely seperate from DCC? I thought thats how they supplied water in their tankers after the mains water was cut off.
