Ned Reilly Topic Author Offline Posts: 2	Hello anybody know if it is still required to put up bond before setting up a brewery ? and if so how much is the bond ?, I know in the UK it is required but a few guys I know got away with putting it up

biertourist Offline Posts: 3112	Apparently you can setup a bank draft with the revenue folks in the North but as far as I know down here a bond is still fully required without any available alternatives. Adam

mmcn90 Offline Posts: 4	The bond required is 50% of the duty you will expect to pay in the year AFAIK. Also Microbrewers also get a 50% rebate on Duty Paid at the end of the year.

Not necessarily, as a lot of them have never dealt with a brewery and don't know themselves. I phoned my local Revenue office, the guy in that section knew less than I did, but promised he'd look it up and get back to me. That was a year ago, and I'm still waiting on the call...

Now you did not fall for the "I'll get back to you trick". As he put down the phone,he had forgotten you already. Always get a name and reconfirm back to them as to when they will get back to you. The one's that did not intend to stutter and now have to think about an answer. Got caught with this too many times in the past.
