Diageo have pour your own carlsberg or guinness tables in lots of places.
Edit:
Although i see what youre saying about vending machines - maybe for bottles etc. Vending machine technology has only recently been able to dispense bottles without shaking them. The old "drop it from a height" machines wouldnt have favoured well with glass bottles <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" />.

Also, there might be the perception that drunk people and technology wont mix too well.
And then the whole thing of the barmans personality being an asset in itself. Obviously doesnt apply to night clubs etc though.
