If they stay as they are now, I don't have a major issue with that. I'd rather it remains Irish but I'll be watching them closely.

I think the saddest part of this is that there are only three sources of Irish whiskey. Compare this to the diversity in Scotland.

real shame. tourists cant understand why there are only 3 manin commercial distilleries in ireland. judging by the expansion of the middleton distellery there is a large international market for it

Oh, man, they got Kilbeggin in the deal, too...

That place is a national treasure; if you haven't been it makes a GREAT weekend trip. (Just don't buy the distillery reserve without getting to taste it first; it's not anywhere near the refinement that the 50 euro+ price would indicate.
