Hops seeds & hop rhizomes 14 years 5 months ago #7

I bought mine from these people in Germany.

Very good value and good to deal with:

I'll be planting mine this weekend. My understanding is that in our climate you can plant anytime during the winter. The impression I got from essentially hops is that they should be planted asap after delivery.
If it is planted 6 inches underground with some manure on top, it is unlikely to be affected by frost I would have thought.

Especially if the manure is still steaming <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->

That's just to stop them drying out. You can put them in pots and leave them in the shed (where mine are), or you could plant them. No difference really... Altho if the weather gets as cold as it did last year and the year before I would cover the ground they're buried in just to be on the safe side, if you do plant them.

I would love to try and grow my own hops next year. Anyone in the mid to south west area willing to donate a rhizome or two?.
