A Derry man making subdued threats......never !

Tx for the support Reb. Truth will out !!

Rebel,

I think what got people P'd off in this thread is the tone of the original post, especially given that some of us are giving AM the benefit of the doubt.

I'll continue to wish success for AM as long as I believe there is an intention to have the beer brewed in Ireland - whether by Arainn Mhor itself or under contract by another Irish brewery. I'd like to think there are some sort of plans to this end. Of course if this never transpires I'll feel like I was just buying rebranded Belgian beer.

Next time I'm in Cork I'll bring you a bottle of Bán and Rua.

I can understand how you might feel put upon js_040, but if someone believes that there has been a violation of advertising standards, reporting it to the ASAI is the right thing to do.

The person who contacted them did nothing wrong, no matter how it made you feel. They were wrong in thinking that you violated advertising standards, which I would have thought was pretty obvious, as your bottles do have “Brewed in the EU” printed on them, but it is not the consumers job to determine that. That is the ASAI's job.

“Traitor in the Camp” is an overreaction.

If so, no member should be made to feel "guilty" or be called names for having an opinion. One of the rules of any internet community is that harassment will not be tolerated. "[i:1tdn6ggb]A Derry man making subdued threats......never !" [/i:1tdn6ggb]doesn't help matters.

So what if someone complained? So what if a percentage of members/people don't like "brewed in the EU" on a label of an Irish-branded product? So what if people "don't understand business". That's their problem, and if they have an opinion or feel strongly enough about something to query it, then that's their right. It was not upheld, and you should feel justified in your approach, not react in the way you did. It will not change some peoples minds, but that kind of reaction will.

(I might be over-reacting as I'm having a bad day, but as a co-founder of this site I feel strongly about defending all members of this community we have built)

I'm not sure whether you're overreacting or not, I don't feel angry but then it's not my site. I do think the whole thing is laughable though.

I don't think Barry's over-reacting, but he is taking it too personally.

I just think it's an insult to us all for someone to come on here, demanding to know which one of us was responsible for a solitary un-founded complaint, threatening to find out who it was (what's the punishment by the way - not allowed to drink any of his beer ever again?).

I compare this approach to that of another brewer on the site who is trying to organise a trip for us to visit his brewery, who personally delivers kegs of his beer to a pub in dublin, and I know which approach I prefer.

Jeez you'd think someone had gone and uncapped all the beer in his warehouse or something.
