We are all glued to the TV waiting for John's Beoir submission to make its budget debut.

Anyone else get the impression Brendan Howlin was trying to impress us with how he says BILLION. Sounded momentous every time. I felt like I should stand up and salute or something.

I found it a pretty depressing budget. We've kicked the can further down the road in terms of tackling some issues, in favour of squeezing the middle just that little bit more. Can't imagine small to medium sized employers will be very enthused about creating new jobs, either, protestations of our leaders to the contrary.

On a more upbeat note, I had two pints of Tom Crean lager in Smyths - very pleasant. The head is quite remarkable.... I don't think I've ever had a pint of lager with quite so creamy a head. I'm not entirely sure whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how it's achieved.

Just in case it goes down in flames- we'll need someone to blame. However, if it is successful, it will become 'our Beoir submission'. I'm pretty sure this is how politics works these days.
