Im heading over to Florence for a wedding during the week. Any beers I should keep an eye out for?

I did not come across anything specific[/url:2bbz2z0q] to keep an eye out for.

for food though, Florence is brilliant and you will find some nice enough beer. I did not go there with beer in mind so I may have missed out on some.

There are now 2 on beermapping so you could take a look and if they are good, please write a review.

What a city.

Was there last year and found a few places that sold bottles of craft Italian beer. I think i still have some of the cards knocking about (tend to collect these things, not only as mementos, but it makes it easier to find somewhere we you get back).

I'll have a rummage around this evening but have a nasty feeling that they're in Cavan so it might be too late for you.

Anyways, if you are wandering on the south side of the Arno between Ponte alla Carraia and Ponte Santa Trinita, there are a few nice cafes that have craft beers on sale. Not cheap, but some of them were very tasty- a hoppy APA that went especially well with Pecorino Toscana.

Damn my memory.

Unless things have changed drastically, you won't get any beer other than Moretti or Peroni in & around the bars the Palazzo Vecchio or the Duomo (and you'll be paying extra for sipping in those surroundings) but if you go off the beaten track slightly the worst thing that you'll have to put up with is cheap, highly drinkable Chianti.

There were certainly a few places south of the Arno but i did find a place or two east of the Uffizi/Palazzo Vecchio towards the Bargello. Again, small winding streets that i can't remember, and even if you don't find them, you'll enjoy the experience. If you're there for a few days, book tickets in advance for the Uffizi- saves a load of time, and do make room for the Bargello. The Cathedral (with Brunellsechi's dome) is best viewed from outside- or ideally get a bus to the southside of the city and Piazzale Michaelangelo for views across the city.

I know that wasn't strictly beer related and apologise in advance <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->
