Wedding..... 14 years 11 months ago #7

I'm getting married in Clonakilty, Cork. I suppose my thinking behind it would be that if i got a keg in then that's a lot of pints that they are going to miss out on. But i might try the same thing and maybe get in contact with the fran well

Not beer, but for my own wedding I imported quite a few cases of wine from France. Even with the duty and corkage it came to less than the hotel was charging for a bottle of their house wine- And we made a major saving on the champagne.

€3 a bottle does sound like a standard markup on a bottle of beer though.

This is an interesting idea. If you told one of the bottling breweries that you would drink X crates of their beer at a wedding. They would like that as it is a sale and it would get them in the door to some extent with a hotel.
You tell the Hotel that you would buy X crates if each one was under some fairly normal price. Leave it to the hotel and the brewery to decide the corking mark up. If the brewery took back anything that was not sold the hotel would get their usual mark up and get to see if the new beer would work. The brewery gets to sell beer. People get to drink beer. Everyone is a winner.

I was at a dinner there last week and they are still selling it so they have either restocked or you didn't drink it all <!-- s:mrgreen: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt="" title="Mr. Green" /><!-- s:mrgreen: -->
