Wedding..... 14 years 11 months ago #1

Ok.. i'm getting married next year but i'm already dreading having to drink the "muck" that they are guaranteed to be serving for the 2 days. I'd be really interested in getting a keg from one of the craft brewers in for the couple of days but i don't know how the hotel would feel about it. Has anyone ever accomplished the feet before!? Has it been done before?

I got married a couple of months ago, and what I did was buy a load of bottles from Drinkstore and the hotel charged me €3 a bottle "corkage". Cost me about €250 for 50 bottles, but it was worth it to enjoy some Black Rock stout with my dinner. The existence of said bottles was kept secret from all those who wouldn't appreciate them. Those that did appreciate them, appreciated them <!-- s:mrgreen: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt="" title="Mr. Green" /><!-- s:mrgreen: -->

That's scandalous, I know they make their money on weddings from drink sales but for only 50 bottles, that's pure profiteering!

There's a topic over in Craft Beer regarding kegs.

That does seem a little bit much. Maybe the misses might sneak a few bottles into her handbag!

The €250 a bottle was in total, so it worked out at €5 a bottle. If you buy a bottle of Black Rock stout in a pub it comes to about that anyway.

Still think it was worth it.

Guess it depends on where you have the wedding a bit.
Mate of mine had his in the Atheneum House Hotel in waterford, and I got him to get the manager to contact Noby (Dungarvan Brewing Company) about getting some of their beers in. They got a couple of cases of each in, not sure what the costs were, but we were all happy anyway.
