Is the bottled smithwicks any better than the cans? I remember hearing a newstalk piece from the brewery a while back and they actually had a "flavour department"

I don't think I've ever had canned Smithwick's. I'd check blind if I could find it bottled anywhere.

A large bottle of Mac off the shelf is better than a lot of things you'll find in your country local.

That's one of two things I can't understand. A fondness for bottled MacArdles in Wexford (not sure it extends into Waterford). The other thing is the fondness Unionists have for Harp. I really don't understand that one at all.

The strapline "Brewed with pride at the Great Northern Brewery" is a stroke of marketing genius, leaving the audience to interpet it in a way that suits them.

Never thought of the Guinness link, who of course didn't employ Catholics in management positions till the 1970s.
