Micro brews are making a big comeback here. The pacific northwest and the northeast are the big areas, along with parts of the midwest.
Where I am, it's good, I have a local homebrew supply shop 10 minutes from the house, and a couple of really good breweries, Old Dominion, Potomac Valley etc, and then it's just a hop in the car or train up the northeast coast and piles of beers to be had. There is also a good microbrew shop here, carries literally hundreds of styles, if its available, its there.
Although, I have yet to beat the pints of guinness from Blakes of the Hollow up in Enniskillen (my wifes from there), but I'm going to keep drinking until I do, at least, thats my excuse
