A glass of wine... 15 years 3 months ago #1

I received this as a chainmail today and normally I would just delete them and think no more about them, however I found this one humorous and decided to share... I wouldn't be convinced of the statements made in it, but I really just consider it entertainment...

[quote:15dpwtqq]There are those who enjoy a glass of wine...
And those who don't and are always
seen with a bottle of water in their hand.

As Ben Franklin said:
In wine there is wisdom,
In beer there is freedom,
In water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials,
Scientists have demonstrated that if we drink
1 liter of water each day,
At the end of the year we would have absorbed
More than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) - bacteria
Found in feces.
In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop..

However,
We do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer
(or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor)
Because alcohol has to go through a purification process
Of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember:
Water = Poop,
Wine = Health.
Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid,
Than to drink water and be full of shit.[/quote:15dpwtqq]

It's a wonder anyone heard him when he said it.

Like I said, I wouldn't be convinced of the statements, but I still find it entertaining.

In know its only supposed to be a bit of fun but i have to be pedantic anyway and say that the stuff about e. coli is nonsense of the highest order.
365 days in a year so the kilo of e. coli over a year would amount to about 3 g of e. coli in every litre, i grow bugs for a living, if you had 3g of e. coli suspended in a litre you wouldn't even be able to see through it, i can't get that many to grow in a litre of growth medium under perfect conditions

Isn't it lovely to see the arts and sciences working together to deliver a thorough kicking to some innocent fun?

Mind you, "it's only a bit of fun" was the excuse the quizmaster in my local used to give for his badly-researched nonsensical questions [img:hpmevjej]http://beermapping.com/forum/Smileys/smiles/emot-argh.gif[/img:hpmevjej]

[i:hpmevjej]Edit[/i:hpmevjej]: Actually, he probably still does. I had to stop going for the sake of both our healths.[/size:hpmevjej]
