Loads of new beers in, so for this evening I've a fine choice lined up.
One of each from Dungarvan, a sierra Nevada pale ale and a torpedo then for good measure a Goose island ipa.[/quote:uij4210y]

Spud, did i read that right: is your local Supervalu stocking those beers? (particularly interested if they're stocking Dungarvan beers- might have to have a suggestive chat with my supervalu if that is the case, & i'd love to cite precedent!!)

Anyways, seeing as how i started the thread, i really have put something up. Friday was a nice smoky Marzen to start, some trash punk and Carlow pale ale- which really is superb.

Last night a couple of 5am Saints while trying to sort my laptop out <!-- s:evil: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_evil.gif" alt=":evil:" title="Evil or Very Mad" /><!-- s:evil: -->

I just tried 1 bottle of the "mild brown" that I made from the second runnings of my brown ale (with steeped grains) and it has a TON of chill haze and it's only about half carbonated at this point. Not that good, way too much haze, I think I steeped some grains that shouldn't have been steeped...

Then moved on to De Molen Mout and Mocca 2. It's a collaborative brew, brewed with "Wijs & Zonen", who appear to own a Tea and Koffie house in Amsterdam (my dutch is pretty crappy and I'm just reading this off of the bottle. It is supposedly 10% starting with an OG of 1.098 and finishing at 1.028 but after loosening the cork cage it IMMEDIATELY shot to the ceiling and left a mark in it. -SCARY! I'm pretty sure it kept fermenting in the bottle down lower than 1.028 and it's probably closer to 11% ABV now. TONS of carbonation, HUGE head that lasted for about 4 minutes.

It's a coffee stout with Guatamalan Antigua and Cuba Dark coffee; personally it has WAY too much coffee for me.
Every pour I get 90% head (and it's not my pouring; it just has that much carbonation) and 10% liquid until it settles.

It starts out just punching you in the face with American-style coffee flavors but after the 3rd sip, it seems a LITTLE more balanced.

Good, but just a bit too much coffee for me. It's way unbalanced, which is probably why it's rated so high on beer advocate...

I'm definitely feeling the 10% ABV already and there's no way I'm finishing all 750ml of this tonight.

Thats right bacon, Pettit's Supervalu in Wexford. Great selection of craft and interesting beers. Varies from week to week, but seems to be expanding all the time. Dont get in often myself, but the better half has a good eye for a nice ale even if she dosnt enjoy them.
Yeah I think Dungarvan is only in there a week or 2.

I had a Hook Norton twelve days this afternoon and really enjoyed it, compliments of the same Supervalu

3 Pettit's Supervalus in Wexford were to stock our beers - we were told to deliver them all to one store and they'd send them out but when we went back it turned out that the first store had kept (and sold!) them all and they never made it to the other branches. They should now be available in both Supervalus in Wexford and one in Enniscorthy.

Are Supervalu likely to stock them outside the sunny south east? Is this a role for individual consumers of Dungarvan beers- should be contact our local Supervalu and get them to get them on the shelves*

*of course, it would be up to us to clear said stock off the shelves, but i think i'm up to that task....

It would seem that Supervalu managers have the autonomy to stock what they choose (rather than other supermarkets where everything has to be done centrally)but our distribution is limited to where we can travel to - i.e. I see that your location is Dublin/Cavan, we deliver to one of those areas but not the other!
