i usually get my cleaning powder when i buy my grains but forgot the last time and dont really wanna pay for shipping for it so does anyone know where i could pick up some steriliser/cleaner in a shop in the dublin area ...south of the river would be best...havent got my passport a the moment...
I think a good few people here use soda crystals for heavy cleaning and the no-rinse bleach/vinegar solution[/url:vg7we2s4] for sanitising. We've been using the latter for a while now whith no ill effects.
Certainly all cheaper than proprietry brewing cleaners/sanitisers. Might be worth a look.
great link thanks. what exactly are soda crystals? ill give the bleach/vinegar thing a go...i had what seemed like a lactic acid infection or something like that so wanna be very sure its cleaned away. not wasting all those beautiful grains on those wee bugs
I should have mentioned the Oxi stuff, as this is what we use. It's great at lifting Krausen and other gunk off. Just make sure you use the unperfumed type (no little blue crystals) and use warm water to get the best action. We got the Cheipro Oxi from Brouwland (which claims to be no-rinse dual action cleaning/sanitising), but I've seen generic tubs of this in a little brick-a-brack store in Kimmage shopping centre. I might buy some to see if it has perfumed bits or not.
i know its kinda off the topic...think i need to get a huge long handled sppon ...apart from online have you seen them about at all? gonna dump the old one just in case..its wooden .think ill change to plastic or steel if i can find one.
You could try some of the kitchen ware shops like Stock (I think it's on Chatham Street off Grafton Street). There's also a big home-wares place on the Belgard Road in Tallaght (by the junction of Airton Road and Belgard Road), in the same complex as B&Q. Can't remember the name of it, but it has a pretty big range, so you [i:17wb3gge]might [/i:17wb3gge]find one there.
