Growing hops in Ireland 15 years 8 months ago #1

Hello All!

I was day-dreaming a while ago about growing hops here in Ireland, and thought i'd do a google search to see if it was possible at all and if there was any tips on how to do it.
The first result returned a documentary series that RTE are currently running, called Higher Ground,
with the last episode featuring a guy called Rupert who claims that he is the only farmer in Ireland growing hops on his farm and also brewing on location too!
He's based in Cork, here's the website which explains a little bit about it : Ruperts Farm[/url:2d1af88r] and the RTE listing of the show: Higher Ground[/url:2d1af88r]

Just thought i'd share it with anyone who hadn't heard about it, as it might be worth the watch!

He is actually a member here (thread[/url:3e0b8gk5]), though we've not heard from him in a while. White Gypsy now has its own hop garden too.

A few of us are growing hops. There are threads in the Ingredients section[/url:3e0b8gk5].

Unless I'm mistaken I don't think his episode has aired yet on RTE? Would be well worth the watch all the same!
