Hey,
A bit late getting back but thanks everyone for the info and welcome!
I'm hoping to start up in Dublin, where I am currently living.Lived in London for 5 years and Berlin for 1 and really enjoyed the variety of micro brews and the like.
Thought to myself why not try to open a place with some sweet beers ala The Bull and Castle. But the exspense and red tape are a big why not!
I'm not exactly looking to brew or start a brewery as such but meant if it was possible to serve home brew beers on a very small scale on a monthly or weekly basis as a special type thing but I see now that one can only sell their brew if they have a brewers licence or brew it in a licenced brewery, so I guess that idea is out the window
I have seen mention of the "special restaurant licence" and kinda looks a little tricky for what I was hoping to do but a "Wine retailers on-licence" for a "Refreshment House" looks kind of interesting however again I know nothing about this. Anybody know anything baout this? It seems difficult finding solid resources for these things bar consulting a solicitor, which I can't afford at the moment.
At present this is still a rough diamond of an idea and Im just sussing out some ideas I've had or have been presented to me so I will be back with more questions no doubt and if anybody has any input at all please feel free to let me know.
In the end what I am hoping to achieve is a small bar/cafe that serves great beers on a rotating menu and great wines the same, good coffee, relaxed environment, no tv's or piped music. Some good simple food and maybe start an aperitivo revolution Italian style! And hopefully not have to get a pub licence..
