Hey guys,
First of all, nice site! Learning a lot.

Just want to ask something out of interest, feel free to comment on my ignorance towards the world of decent beer and the laws of state.

If I wanted to open a bar/cafe/wine bar type thing, not a pub as such..ie. no spirits but wine,beer and food and all thh licensing was sorted etc..would it be possible to sell "homebrewed beers"?
For instance I notice a lot of ye make your own beer and if I said "hey, you want to brew some beer for next month's homebrew special?" that kind of thing. Would it be possible legally to do so and also would anyone be interested in doing or drinking such a thing?

I would also be on the line of selling only craft beer and nice wines.

Im not looking to make it rich or anything. I would just like to see an alternative in beer consumption premises and also culture.

It'd be nice to have somewhere with a rotating beer menu and all that.

Plus it would be great if prices were kept low too!

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated, however constructive or otherwise.

PS Also just finished my third homebrew beer from kit. A morgans sheaf wheat beer. Tastes great!

It is possible to do but revenue would not make it easy
and all the brewing would need to be done on site once it's been approved

From what I can see you will need a brewing licences and a premises that up to the current standards/regulations, I believe a brewing licences will allow you to sell minimum of 20 litres directly to the public. Also a pub license to sell standard measures to the public and off sales

I don't think we have any beer licences for pubs, there are still a few in England.

As far as I know the homebrew would be out if you are to sell it. You are no longer homebrewing, you've moved into being a brewery.
There a a few pubs that allow homebrew events to take place on their premises, samples can be consumed, but no money changes hands.

I'm sure you're aware of the existance of brewpubs, where you brew your own and sell it. It would be as close as you would get, I think.

Anyway, the above is only my thoughts and I'm open to correction on them.
Good luck with your venture, sounds very interesting if you can put it together.
What general area of the country are you thinking about?

You don't need a pub license if you are only serving beer with food, so depends on what your doing wine bar/cafe/ pub is a bit broad.

Sill will need some form of licence that going to cost
