OK, I can see I've opened up a "kid in the sweetshop" scenario

I'll be mostly in Weesp and a couple of nights in Amsterdam. I suppose what I'm really after is a top ten "hitlist" of beers to try.
So far, anything Trappist looks good.

Thanks for the advice so far!

Right. If I had to name ten Low Countries beers to try, keeping a balance of styles and likely availability, and in alphabetical order, I'd say look out for:

Brugs Tarwebier
Cantillon Gueuze
Faro
Heineken Oud Bruin
Liefman's Kriek
Natte
Palm
Rochefort 10
Rodenbach Grande Cru
Westmalle Tripel

Nothing researched but the spellings...

Who's next?

From memory, the bars in NL tend by and large not to have many brands, they're almost like tied houses in the UK.
I'd personally just be inclined to try as many different beers that I've never had before to be honest - if you make a hitlist will you consider it a wasted trip if you don't get to try them all? Some of them may be very difficult to get, and if you hunt them exclusively you will pass up on many otherwise great beers.

When I go back I try and avoid the ones I can get easily here too.

P.s. I was in weesp once. Ended up there cos I missed the announcement telling me to change trains

As Weesp is basically a suburb of Amsterdam, I reckon you should concentrate on Amsterdam. There is nothing listed in Weesp anyway.
Check my article here on ICB (if you haven't already), and pmail me if you want anything more.

Let me know how you get on. I am heading there in October again (all going well).

That's the approach I take. I reckon there'll always be something I've never even heard of, a local beer or something, and this can lead to all sorts of pleasent surprises. Just see what's there and take a dare And if you find couple that you'd really like to try, then all the better.

Keep a list and post it up for us!

Yep,I think that's probably the approach I'll take, because pretty much everything will be new to me anyway. I'll do my best to keep a list, but no promises after the first ten or so......
