I'm just back after my trip and I have to say it was very enjoyable. I didn't get to drink nearly enough beer though

Here are the few I got to sample:
- Heineken Tarwebok (bottle). Heavy-tasing beer but quite nice. Very malty. Don't know if I could drink it all night.
- Wiekse Witte (tap and bottle). Light and slightly fruity. This one you could drink all night. No need for the lemon slice in the glass though.
- La Chouffe (tap). Very tasty and strong, but only got to have one glass.
- De Koninck (tap). Very nice, tasty amber beer. Had lots of this
- I also brought home a 6 pack of La Trappe Quadruppel (10%) bought in a supermarket for €6.80!
I made me sick to see a [u:hbswjsrs]crate[/u:hbswjsrs] of heineken (24 bottles) or grolsch for less than €10 !!

All in all, a nice intro to some more tasty beers.

Although I didn't find anything other than "standard" offerings, I was still impressed by the mix available and wonder why we can't get some of these here!

[/quote:4hht457h]How's this for sick: Just got back from 3 weeks in Germany, and while there went to a big drink markt to get beer for a party. I got the following list:

10 x 500ml Paulaner Hefe Weizen (half crate)
10 x 500ml Paulaner Kristal Weizen (half crate)
20 x 330ml Distelhauser Pils[/url:4hht457h] (full crate)
10 x 500ml Dinkelacker CD Pils[/url:4hht457h] (half crate)
4 x 500ml Kostrizer Schwartzbier
6 x 500ml Krusovice Imperial (same as in B&C)
2 x 500ml Krusovice Cerne[/url:4hht457h] (a Schwartzbier)

Total cost: just inder €42, and bringing the crates back would have given me back about 9 euro! Half of the beer was left as a couple other guys arrived with 2 5 litre party kegs of Rothaus Pils[/url:4hht457h]. I think ny brother-in-law will be buying them off me for another party next week

Oh, and I saw a 20 litre party keg of Jever Pils for €43! Mad I tells ya!

Welcome back!

I find 330ml of Jever tough going, I can't imagine being presented with 20 litres of it.

Why did you buy half Hefe, half Kristal with the Paulaner? Are there people who'll drink one but not the other?

Thank you

Yeah, there were alot of people coming to the party, so I was playing it safe. My brother "discovered" Kristal nd loved it, but didn't like the Hefe, and there were definitely some of the locals who preferred one over the other. I think If I'd bought one kind they'd have drank it, but I'm pro-choice

Kieron (n1mbus) also brought along three 1 litre bottles of Marzen from the Vetter brewery in Heidelberg. Nice big swing-top bottles. I brought 2 back with me (empty!). We weren't too impressed with that beer, so there's still a ful bottle left in the in-laws house.
