Hi All,

Just to give a little update on what's been happening with the new site. So far, the entire content of ICB has been moved over, although some adjustments to layouts and stuff will be needed, as well as a kind of find and replace to change ICB to Beoir <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

One of the new features I just added is a directory system to store the list of breweries, brewpubs, pubs and restaurants, which I think will make it a lot more useful (searchable for a start!) and easier to maintain.

Beoir will also see the return of the events calendar, after we had to remove the ICB one due to a security risk, and of course a new look and feel. For forum users, the latest phpBB version is a little more sexy under the hood, and your control panel is a lot richer (and searching is a lot better! <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->).

There are a few more key parts to add around automating Beoir membership and group access, but overall, I'm happy with progress. However, although we'd planned on going live with the new site on July 1st, this is not going to happen, mostly because I'll be travelling at that time and over the next few weeks, and I need at least a few hours to do the final move of the forums, users, final tests etc. on the transition day. At this point, it'll probably be mid July before we all get pointed at the Beoir site, but it won't affect the setting up of Beoir, election of officers etc. The new site is just the face, and we'd done ok on ICB for the past three years or so, so I won't be losing sleep about this particular slipped deadline <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Actually, there'll be no major change for site users, other than visiting a different address and some added bells and whistles. ICB needed an overhaul anyway, so it's a great opportunity to do that <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->
