There's an app for that 16 years 1 month ago #1

I just recently got a smartphone so I decided I better check if there's any beer related apps. And yes there are a few beer related apps so I thought I'd share them. My phone is android so if anyone has an iphone and has some good beer apps then let everyone know here.

BJCP Droid: This is a nifty app which should solve arguments in the pub. It gives descriptions of all the different BJCP styles and what they shoule be like. It's not terribly interactive though so there's not much here you couldn't get on a webpage

Brewzor: This is a brewing calculator which so far looks really useful. I changed the units to metric. It does loads of handy calculation like strike temperature, mash infusion, batch sparge volumes, carbonation and hydrometer corrections.

IBU Calculator App: A simple enough app but does what it says on the tin.

Rate Beer App: You need to sign in with your rate beer account for this. The places part worked well giving a list of pubs with decent beer around Dublin. Not sure the beer search part is working great.

Beer Free: This app works pretty well. It's a beer tasting app. You can scan the barcode of a bottle and the beer will appear. You can then rate it and add tasting notes.

Don't forget you can build your own apps too <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->
I have a Hero, love it. Android FTW.

Brewpal on the iphone is pretty good brewing app. One nice touch is the boil and mash timer with notifications to remind you of hop additions, wort chiller etc.

There's all manner of mobile stuff on Beermapping[/url:2id8so8s], including some on-screen barcode thingy you can get your phone to read.
