I had a think about this today while I was brewing and I have to agree. The right way to do this would have been to reverse engineer a kit beer (ie figure out as best you can the hops, yeast and malt used in it) and then make close approximations through the medium of all grain and extract. Unfortunately, I put the dry hops in the beer yesterday... but this post isn't just here to placate TBN and Adeptus, oh no! This post is to suggest that someone else do this and then invite me round to sample the output!
