Yet another newbie! 18 years 11 months ago #1

*waves shyly*

Um, hi. Been lurking for a bit, too nervous to join because I don't brew. Yet. Am an enthusiastic drinker of "snobby beers" (as my friends so lovingly refer to my preferred beverages ) and have been since before I knew there was such a thing. Have been a wannabe-brewer for as long as I can remember too, but have never had the correct alignment of circumstances - physical, mental and emotional - to give it a go.

I'm determined to, someday, when I'm no longer living at home and risk incurring the wrath of my mother as I make a mess of her kitchen, and add fermentation vessels to the already severely overly-cluttered house, but it's unlikely to be in the imminent future But since I've had a name for my brewery for the last 10 years, I better make a move at *some* point to have a brewery for my name

Am in Séan's gaming group, and 'twas he that finally told me to stop being a ninny and just join the damned community!

So, I'm a girly light-weight, who can't drink a fraction as much beer as she'd like, and thus doesn't know an awful lot about it. Am learning more technical elements (we're talking even simple tasting elements here, so's I can say things other than "Ooh, I like this one!" and "Blegh! This one's a bit rank.") during frothing moments with Séan while the rest of the gaming group sigh and shake their heads, but am likely to still ask extremely stupid questions from time to time, or make fantastically idiotic comments

And now I'm off to see if the PH still have Fruli on tap. I doubt it, but hope springs eternal!

Hi Microgirl, about time you posted. Welcome to the forum.

Microgirl, as she has mentioned, is a member of my gaming group, which means that she has been one of my Guinea pigs for years and has tasted most of my brews, fair and foul.

She knows a lot more about beer and brewing than she is letting on and will be a particularly good person to get into discussions about fermentation, as she is another one of you sciencey lab type people. I may be wrong, but I don't think Oblivous and DrJohn work a million miles away from where Microgirl works.

Ok, so I am wrong. I thought you worked elsewhere.

Psst, Séan, it's specifically spelled with a small 'm' < /pedant >

I work in the IBTS, up beside James's Hospital, if that's close to DrJohn and Oblivious.

And I might know more than Séan, if it wasn't for the fact that I'm out of college 9 years and have the memory of an amnesiac goldfish at the best of times, and he has learned an *astonishing* amount of the "sciencey" stuff in the last couple of years of serious brewing

Oblivious; I did wonder were there any other girls on the forum alright - especially when I saw the rampant sexism in the t-shirt shop area Lads, where's the girls' skinny tees? One with the estrogen molecu......ok no, that one doesn't really work
