Last night I saw Mike Hannons Documentary[/url:3jswd1z7] on the closing of Beamish and Crawford Brewery earlier this year
It was in the Cork Film Festival ,

Of interest to Brewers just to know the tradition and genuine history of craft that existed on the site. It includes a lot of Photo's from the Beamish Archives showing the changes that Brewing went through over the last 4 generations and also interviews with some of the Pensioners and workers recounting the personal side of being a third generation brewery worker seeing the Brewery that had been their family closing.

lovely footage in there of open vats in use before the modernisation of the brewery , and personal comment on the wealth of tradition , with having the pensioners coming in ( Every Friday they used to ) and relating the huge change machinery made to the process .

I'd advise anyone who spots it in a festival or on RTE to give it a look , as it is excellently made.

Great to see this being documented.

If only someone had taken the trouble to make a documentary about the closure of Phoenix, or Cairnes, or Deasy's, for instance. All those closures must have had a similar sort of local impact.

We are lucky down here to have so many filmmakers with talent ready to go and do this

Another filmmaker has a 90 min documentary filmed on the closure , and I'd offered to make one as well ( another side of me ) but there were too many already at it.

It is a shame alright that so many breweries have passed without a proper remembrance
