Summary : 2 euro a pint DAYS is fine, but 3 euro a pint for a few HOURS is not. Go figure.[/quote:3nyoqefq]
I'd imagine the reasoning behind it is that "Happy Hours" encourage binge drinking because people try to get their fill before prices go back up, whereas all day prices don't encourage it.

Having said that though, it doesn't stop them from making laws that encourage bar to turf everybody out on the streets at the same time after everybody has rushed to down as many as possible before the bar closes.

There just doesn't seem to be any joined up thinking when it comes to alcohol laws in Ireland.

Do you really believe that? Cos I sure as hell don't.

It's SO ridiculous really. They say drinking at home is not responsible yet I'm positive those figures are up ...in fact there are probably more people drinking in parks now because it's cheaper to do so...surely lower priced alcohol would encourage people back to the pubs and out of their houses and hopefully out of the parks. My local park is littered with cans everyday and it's one of the nicest parks in the country. They send out such mixed messages..........ah to hell with it I could rant all day on it....I'm not a happy bunny so I'll leave it there <!-- s:evil: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_evil.gif" alt="" title="Evil or Very Mad" /><!-- s:evil: -->

Of course not. I'm just reiterating what I've heard being said before.
