RichieH, Blue Moon is actually brewed in Montreal, not high up in the Rockies. And it was originally designed and brewed at the Sandlot Brewery, the Coors brewpub at the Denver baseball park they own (a nice place that still turns out some excellent beers every season). But I suppose that's too forgiving, eh Salacious? Wouldn't want to disappoint.

This is about keeping the comfort level high: give them the beer they actually want to drink, instead of adding tension to the moment by forcing them to drink something else for political reasons. Not my idea of a "teachable moment": here, I'd like us all to get along, but you'd better drink this beer because it's better than that shit you drink.

For beer...Pete Brown's right: doesn't matter WHAT beer it is. The man invited them to get together over a beer. Not wine, and not nothing. that's great for beer.

I didn't really think it was brewed high up in the rockies, I only meant it didn't wear it's coors-ness on its sleeve, rather styling itself as some sort of micro brew. Nice to hear they have a decent brewpub attached somewhere.

I don't think it's any step backwards. Beer is usually represented as being a bad thing associated with drunken fights and binge drinking. This is a positive image of beer, some people meeting up to have a drink and a chat.

spot on bog myrtle, the fact that it's beer that's being drunk (whether it's bleurgh bud lite or dogfish 120 minute IPA) is the important point not which beer.
