Heading down to Waterford for the weekend, can anyone recommend pubs and off licences that sell a good variety of beer in Waterford.

World Wide Wines out by the hospital is the best off license. Fantastic selection.

As for pubs there's not loads with great beer selection. I'd go to Henry Downes, it's a great very old school pub. I think the decor hasn't changed since 1759 when it was set up. They used to bottle their own whiskey there. It has a few of the different beers. Last time I was there they had Spaten and a few others.

It's on the Dunmore Road in Waterford just before the roundabout to the hospital. If you're staying in Waterford castle you'll pass it on your way into the town centre.

I don't know whats in stock there but sure have a look round.
