Off licenses 16 years 11 months ago #1

Where are good places on the Northside of Dublin to buy interesting beer ?

The only place I'm aware of is Sweeney's in Phibsboro but even there they have a limited amount of English Ale. Jus de vine in Portmarnock always wins off license off the year but isn't great for beer.

I think sweeney's is ok for english and belgian, not great for american. You could try the drinkstore in stoneybatter which have a decent selection, apart from that, if you have a car I recommend driving to newry to stock up on english ale. they often have 3 for 4£ and the like. worth it if you buy a good bunch of it.

The two branches of McHugh's are the best reputed northside offies.

You'll find all of them marked on this map[/url:2b7pc7rh].

There's an offie along Fairview Strand (on the left just after the footbridge, when coming from town). It's been stocking Timmy Taylor's Landlord. Mind you, I've been busy depleting their stock on a regular basis. They have a decent selection of other ales.
