Lucky Me!! 16 years 11 months ago #1

Well i'm heading off to Holland for the weekend, to Haarlem and Amsterdam. So gonna pop into the places that were recommended ie. Arendsnest and Cafe Gollem, won't be pushing the boat out as my wife is 5 months pregnant and its for HER birthday. May get a few take aways also to bring home. Just brewed my second ever during the week, first extract "Cincinnati Pale Ale" sound familier? From one of those books. Well it took over 4 hrs!! The stockpot took forever to boil..

Well just getting around to posting my beer tips for my trip to Holland. Just a note, there is also a great off licence called "Melger's Wijn- en Drankenhandel" in Haarlem, just off the Boter Markt that has loads of beers and the extra large bottles, thats where i got my few to bring home, seen as I was based in Haarlem. So I got to go to 't Arendsnest, and sampled a SNAB Pale Ale on tap, very nice. It has nice outdoor seating by the canals too. I also got a bottle of Brouwerij 't Ij Pilsner which to be honest i thought was a bit muck! I nearly got to the Wildeman Cafe also but instead we went into the bar opposite, for some grub for the pregnant wife, and they had a pool table so we stayed there and I had Wiescke Witte which was good. I also drank La Trappe Witte (very nice in the sunny outdoors, and one to take home, see it now on realbeers.ie) and a couple from the brewery in Haarlem "Jopen" a Witte called Adriaan and a HOPEN JOPEN, both very nice. Also took home 2 cans of Wiescke witte "ROSE"?? just to try. Had a great time, oh and its the first time i was ever in Amsterdam (7 total) that i never had a Heineken, but also enjoyed a couple of Belgians De Koninck and Palm. So there you have it, later
