Greetings for 2009 everyone. I hope ye're all well.

And straight outta leftfield: Does anyone have any behind-the-scenes ICB/FBI details about who these jokers at the ABFI are and what their game is?

Like what's the idea of their Beer Naturally campaign?:

I saw this site a while back and it seemed fishy to me. I didn't trust it because it didn't appear to be what it seemed to be, or at least it doesn't seem to be what I'd hoped it would be. Hmmm.

Any thoughts?

I an generally suspicion of such groups as just marketing fronts for Inbev, Digeo and such to get some product placement in.

It does seam to bee clearly linked Diageo, Heineken
InBev

It is an interesting website, but is clearly linked to the macrobrewers. Here is a quote from one of its press releases in the 'news' section of the site:

"Diageo, Heineken and Inbev - Ireland’s three leading brewing companies - have come together as part of the Irish Brewers Association to launch Beer Naturally, a campaign aimed at encouraging Irish consumers to revaluate their perceptions of Ireland’s favourite alcoholic beverage. This three year campaign will initially focus on beer as a perfect accompaniment to good food. Overall, the campaign is intended, to inform the consumer that beer is a product with many different styles and flavours.

This campaign will feature guest visits from international Beer and Food experts, Beer and Food evenings in Dublin, Cork and Galway, and a guide to enjoying beer, which is currently being distributed to customers through Irish pubs and off licences. A dedicated campaign website has also been created (<!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="www.beernaturally.ie">www.beernaturally.ie) where visitors can learn about the history of beer and brewing, the many beer styles on offer today, beer and food matching, tips on how to enjoy the perfect beer, brewing facts and lots more."

I wonder if the 'international Beer and Food experts' will ever suggest a non macrobrew for some of their pairings?

Yeah, they're the big boys, promoting a product they don't actually make or sell.

My previous rant on the subject is here[/url:2onljnai].
