Hi all,

New member here from Dundalk. Looking forward to getting to know you.
Myself and a mate have been discussing the possibility of starting up a micro for the past while and there are a few things in train which may align the stars for us over the next year to possibly make it a reality.
Please bear with me as I'll likely be asking some basic/elementary questions from ye all!

Cheers,
Paddy

Welcome, Paddy! The best starting point is to drink every beer and visit every brewery you can.

Thanks lads, we're only at discussion stages at the minute and we're under no illusions that we've a huge amount to do to bring it close to fruition so plenty of research to be done and questions to be asked!

How you all doing?
I'm Dave and I'm near Killarney in Co Kerry.
I've been brewing for about 3 months or so now and so far I've enjoyed a few one hop ales, a lager with slight diacetal undertone, A scottish 80 shilling and a couple of oatmeal stouts as well as throwing away 2 batches of rancid bog water that the taste can only be described as putrid. I jumped straight in to AG as I used to work in a micro brewery chain in the UK and knew enough about it to be confident. Also having a master brewer as a friend who's on call every evening helps when things get technical.
I kegged a bout 20 ltrs of stout 5 weeks ago and tapped it on saturday evening for a bbq ( in the rain ) with friends and I have to say it was gorgeous.
Is any one else in the mid kerry area?
Who's all going to the killarney beerfest?

Welcome Dave, sounds like a good start!

I'm certainly going to Killarney and there are a number of people involved in judging and/or tasting sessions so plenty of us to meet
