Just popping in to say hello, i'm sure one or two of you have seen me on twitter.

Particularly interested in homebrewing total novice in that regard.

Hi all,

Just joined the forum today. Myself and my son did a home brew course with a Beoir member recently and we did a kit brew on Saturday. We used a Muntons Connoisseur IPA - it's bubbling away merrily at the moment.

I am looking forward to the new experience, expanding my knowledge of home brewing and letting all those craft beers out there wet my moustache!!

Hope to see some of you at the Bull & Castle at some point.

Dave

Welcome to the site, Dave!

And a belated hi to Wayne -- sure you're an old lag at this stage.

Having a daughter working and living in Dublin, I have visited the green isle on several occasions over the last couple of years.
As a craft beer lover I have probably spent as much time in Irish pubs as I have spent with my daughter during my visits

I have been a Beoir member for about two years and I have become really fond of Irish craft beers.
Amongst my favourite pubs in Dublin are the Brew Dock. WJ Kavanaugh and The BeerHouse.

On October 1st I will start my new job as the Marketing Manager at Nøgne Ø (www.nogne-o.com), Norways largest craft brewery.

I used to run a beer blog called Kjempetorskens ØL-blogg (kjempetorsken.com) roughly translated as "the Big Cods beer blog" and I was also the editor of Norway's one and only online beer magazine "The Beer Portal (olportalen.no">olportalen.no).
I quickly realized that writing about beer while marketing craft beer professionally would not be a good combination, so I am no longer writing about beer on the mentioned sites.

I have followed several of the discussions here at beoir.org with great interest and I found it was about time that I got to introduce myself.

Cheers,
Tom Young

Glad to hear from you at last!

So how does marketing work in a country with a ban on beer advertising? Are you going to be more focussed on the export markets?

Thanks.
As the Brewmaster Kjetil Jikiun is handling most of the export sales, I will be concentrating on the domestic market. Export activities actually had to be cut down a couple of years ago as we did not have enough beer for the home market

You are right that we have a ban on beer advertising in Norway, hence we are dependent on using the means at hand namely social media, beer bloggers, events etc. Beer festivals and beermakers dinners are also quite popular here and we will probably have to strengthen our sales force in the time to come.

With the Vinmonopolet (government run chain of liquor stores), distribution is actually quite good for + 4,7% beers. Pubs and restaurants have also embraced craft beer, so it is not as hopeless as it appears.
