Can anybody help me buying a scales for weighing grain? i have no idea where to look <!-- s:oops: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_redface.gif" alt=":oops:" title="Embarassed" /><!-- s:oops: -->
also do i really need a thermometer if the boiler has a thermostat which i read is not very accurate

Most kitchen scales will do for weighing grain but you do need a thermometer. It's not good enough to rely on the boiler theromstat to guage your strike and sparging water temps. A simple mercury or alcohol one will do to start with but if you get a mercury one and break it during a brew and contaminate anything you'll have to dump the whole lot. An unlikely scenario, but one to bear in mind. I was using a mercury one up to a few weeks ago before I got a cool digital one. Can't wait to try it out.

have a mercury one but i wasn't 2 confident as to how good it is cause it was very cheap and due to my love of shiny things a digital one seemed the way to go <!-- s8) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8)" title="Cool" /><!-- s8) -->
