In other 'kicking Bud when they're down' news, Sam Adams is the new King of Beers.[/url:2enxcrc5]

Hooray!

If ever there was a mass market crying out for a mass market beer, it's "post-communist" China.

very interesting interview there, emphasising quality over quantity and not playing the interviewers game of we're the biggest american owned brewery drink our beer schtick, fair play.

Snow isn't bad as cheap macro lager goes. Think Tsing Tao and the like. Certainly better than B*d

I drank quite some bottles of Snow whilst in china in '06. Quite a tasty lager if I remember correctly, had a fair bit of malty flavour, certainly compared to a lot of others. A lot of the Chinese brewing legacy comes from when Germany were over in the area, around Shanghai there was a major european influence, there was a french concessionary area even! The first brewery was set up by the Germans in Qingdao (where the olympic sailing events took place this year - it's a small seaside town of around 7 million)
