I just noticed that the first National Irish Food Awards[/url:x8ty80qx] will take place in Dingle in early October. They're about to start asking for submissions, and they have a drinks category.

If there are any commercial brewers reading, I hope you'll consider entering your beer or cider for this. It's another opportunity to raise the profile of craft brews in Ireland.

To be eligible for entry your product must be made on the island of Ireland and available in at least three outlets, north or south.

Yeah, such a narrow definition of an Irish product. Surly the fact that it has something vaguely Irish on the label should be enough.

To be fair, islands just off the island of Ireland do qualify. Just not Fantasy Island.
