Try a night out with the new Irish Non Drinkers Group [url:2k1bmx0c]http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/group.php?groupid=63[/url:2k1bmx0c]

I was listening to the radio on the way home from work. A couple were on talking about a new social group on boards.ie called Non Drinkers Group. They're all about organising events, minus the alcohol. "Drinkers and non-drinkers are welcome to attend." They also have their own web site @ [url:2k1bmx0c]http://www.nondrinkersgroup.com/[/url:2k1bmx0c]. There wasn't an anti-drinking theme to the interview, which I was expecting from a group with a name like that. The interview can be downloaded from their site.

The couple said they created the group because none existed in Ireland, apart from AA and The Pioneers [url:2k1bmx0c]http://pioneertotal.ie/pioneer/[/url:2k1bmx0c]. (Enter at your own peril)

Heard the same thing (PhantomFM ftw! ) and whereas I'd previously dismissed the group when I saw the name on Boards.ie (I assumed they were all about drink-bashing) I'm now interested. Definitely going to point my friend in their direction who's looking for ways to meet new people (she works alone and lives alone) and that sounds ideal.

Must say I can't see anything wrong with such a group. Diffeent strokes for different folks and perhaps a lot of people who do not drink find the pub / alcohol enmphasis a pain in the neck. Two of my friends do not drink and that is no problem for me whatsoever.

I encourage non-drinkers. They can drive me home from the pub
