[quote:1uvg4ovh][b:1uvg4ovh]Wetherspoons[/b:1uvg4ovh] always seemed more for food to me. Maybe that is the way to make beer [b:1uvg4ovh]classy[/b:1uvg4ovh].[/quote:1uvg4ovh]I've never seen those two words in such close proximity To be fair though Wetherspoons do tend to have a good range of ales. I agree that making beer more foodie would help increase its appeal in the way it has done with wine.

[quote:1hnj36ga]Because it's harder to get. If you want to trade up to higher-quality alcohol you buy wine instead, as that's what'll be in the bar, restaurant or off licence.[/quote:1hnj36ga]
Thats true wine does have the classy drunk end of the market alright.

I still think the article is glossing over a lot of details though. They may not be as bad as the likes of Wal-Mart, but I bet they shut down a fair number of coffee shops in their time too.

I read the same piece a while ago. Was interesting. And this is why beer tastes better during a brew day. Neuromarketing in the home, as the house is infused with hop aromas and malty goodness.

I just love the smell of Starbucks and Insomnia coffee shops, but the gits have stuck quite a number of them in bookshops and I'm always very happy when in a bookshop. The combination is damn near sensory overload to me.
