The European Union are attempting world domination via brewery mergers. The people of St Louis could use the following slogan, which is heard around these parts from time to time: BACK OFF BRUSSELS!

And it's done.

All hail Anheuser-Busch InBev and its disturbing new web address[/url:2sgm3ibu].

So what is this likely to mean?
Could Beamish could be in trouble? Could pubs in general could be pressured to limit the number to beers they supply

I dunno. I asked over on an Irish drinks industry blog[/url:twmr0px4] a while back and got no response.

I know that the European Commission seems to be particularly vexed over on-trade lager choice in Ireland, arising from the Heineken-S&N dealy, so I'd imagine the same people will be looking closely at this one too.

Neither companies brew in Ireland, so I don't see it as a huge issue. However, InBev Ireland are becoming more assertive about getting its beers onto Irish bars, but at the same time it might not yet be enough of a threat to Diageo to risk the very profitable and cosy contract brewing arrangement they now share over Bud.

How do you see it affecting Beamish?

apologies I got who owns who mixed up and thought this would result in Murphys and Beamish being owned by the same people.
