Trip to Brussels 18 years 1 week ago #1

I'm heading to brussels next monday for 5 days and need some recommendations for good food and beer outlets. I have been told it's not a beer holiday by the wife(and i said it's not a shopping holiday either) so if anyone can point me towards any gems i would be grateful.

Do not miss Cantillon. It's a museum, honest.

Last tip: before going to a specialist beer shop check Spar and the like first: they tend have loads of great and unusual beers for a fraction of the price of the fancy places.

I second TBNs reccomendation on that thread; I have a special fondness for A l'Imaige de Nostre Dame. I think that was where I had my "St Paul on the road to Damascus" event and started drinking real beer. I have been annoying my friends in pubs since; just can't make up my mind whether to drink Guinness or Smithwicks - awkward fecker!
They had (and probably still have) Bourgogne des Flandres on tap (only 2 pubs in Brussels do). It's a Flanders sweet/sour ale.

The pub itself (opens at 4pm) is an oasis of quiet down an alley near enough to Bourse.

Last time I was there they were playing this weird coin-toss game in the little yard outside the front door.

Now I'm jealous. When I think it used to be 3 hours frive from home. [sigh]
