Any of the places mentioned above will see you fine for UCD.

Don't bother looking past daft.ie[/url:1xbjozn5] if you're searching for somewhere.

Some general advice as regards renting in Ireland.

Up until about 6 months ago, renting was a sellers market and landlords could name their price, but that has been changing rapidly. Rents are only going one way for the foreseeable future, and that's down. There has been a steady increase in supply so renters can afford to be a bit more picky.

That said, good housing, well located will always attract a premium and generally will be snapped up quickly, but you should still be able to find somewhere suitable for a reasonable price.

I think, however, that a 6 month lease would be the exception.

If you use Firefox, then I'd visit Property-Bee[/url:1xbjozn5] and install the toolbar, this keeps a track of rents and time on the market of anywhere you're looking at, which might give you and indication of where you stand with regard to certain houses.

There is a property group that have short-term rentals, although they're usually by the month or so, and usually geared towards students renting a room in an apartment rather than the whole apartment, but shorter-term leases are out there.

If worst comes to the worst you could sign a 1-year lease and then say you've been forced to return to the States earlier than anticipated. Many landlords will be ok with that if you find them a new tenant before you go, so that they don't have empty space bringing in no money. However they might ask to retain your deposit, though not all will.
